Samurai jack hoodie: make or buy one?

Because I got so many positive responses to the general idea, I also wanna try my hand at my own design. I'm not very good at hand-drawn images, so I'll be using adobe photoshop and any good images I can find lying around on the internet. I'll include picture-progress of my work daily and I should hopefully be done on Friday.

Monday plan: Working on TBD jail escape server topic title, no SJ work
Tuesday plan: make rough drafts, find images
Wednesday plan: begin work, crunch time
Thursday plan: get some more work done, should be about 75% done at this point
Friday plan: finish it up, make different variations (font types, effects, glow/fade, etc)


So as some of you may know, I recently got my adobe photoshop CS5 associate's cert.
I love working in adobe and I can pull off some pretty neat stuff.

Recently a topic came up and samurai jack was mentioned. Samurai Jack, is in all senses, my childhood hero. I LOVE everything about the show. And so I got to thinking: I don't have any merchandise from the show, and I need new clothes anyways...

So here's what I'm considering: either a pull-over hoodie OR an organic/athletic fit T-shirt.

I can try and make my own design in photoshop. For that, what I had in mind would be to have a solid black hoodie, with a red sun burst (Japanese flag) with the center in the bottom right. But rather than have the sun's center be the red circle, I wanted to have a silhouetted Jack, with his eye looking to the wearer's left (aka looking behind jack.) then on the back, I would try and find a good oriental font and have some big, all caps saying from the show like "THE FUTURE IS AKU" or "FOOLISH SAMMURAI WARRIOR"

Aight so here's what I'm thinking: I have no life, and my school has adobe CS4. I own CS2, but its not the easiest to use (I started with CS4 then realized my mum had CS2 on an old Mac, now it's mine). We have a one hour lunch period at school, and my adobe teacher lets kids stay in his classroom the full hour if they want to work.

I'm gonna see what I can do Tuesday - Friday with samurai jack (Monday I'm making server titles for THe Brighter Dark's jail escape, I'll offer to make public ones later on). No matter how it turns out, I'll still post the .gif and the .PSD of it, so if people like mine over the design I found, then they can use it.



This is exciting, now I have something fun to do at lunch (won't be any different for me though, I'm always in there.)

I could make one design be just like a miniature jack's head above the left chest? (wearer's angle)
Or maybe have a version where the print is on the back?

Just curious, why wear plain clothing? I've noticed some people do this around where I live and I wonder if there's a legitimate reason for why they do it lol :L

I just don't like wearing designs on my person. No particular reason of which I can think.
