Nails aren't given to prisoners, thanks for the suggestion anyways :P

I remember watching one of the old Hawaii 5-0 one time, these prisoners held some guards and other prisoners hostage in the jail, and they managed to smuggle in before the hostage 2 guns and this wooden makeshift gun. It had a wood frame like a T and on top of it was some type of pull back slide in a barrel that would I guess set off the weapon. This could be useful if the prisoners in your Prison Escape could find some gun powder (very rare(?)), metal, and wood and create a deadly single shot pistol.
