Author Topic: Headphones (Crossfade LP's?)  (Read 902 times)

So I'm looking for a new pair of headphones as my most recent pair (Razer Electras) has fallen to the land of dead drivers.

Just looking for a casual listening/gaming pair, I'm not looking for anything for "true audiophiles"

My price range is roughly between 100-130 dollars, and I'm leaning towards V-Moda's crossfade LP's. The reviews I've heard are great, aside from a design flaw that has been fixed, plus the need for some burn-in (which is pretty easy to do).

Your guys' recommendations would be great, and I'm completely willing to take input from the community here (within reason).

i have a pair of crossfades with the chrome plates on the side. they're very nice, i haven't done any burning though. read about it but what does it really do?

Yup. Oldschool, but still a great value.

Another choice would be the Creative Aurvana Live. I heard it is the best headphone in its price range.

I can wholeheartedly say that these headphones are the best option in your price range. They outperform a great number of more expensive headphones. Just make sure you get a pair with a coiled cable.

If you've had them for long enough there's probably not much of a need to do it now. The drivers, just out of the factory, are a little bit stiff. Playing music through them for long enough helps round out/smooth the sound overall.

These headphones are really reliable, top quality, and cheap.

Ignore my name.

I've used neck-band headphones and I find them incredibly uncomfortable. Looking for over-ear headphones as they're the only headphones I've found to satisfy me.

V-Moda really makes some nice stuff. If you look anywhere you constantly see even audiophiles praising the quality of their products, and I've used the Crossfades and loved them. While they may not be the best for extended use, after a bit of a burn in they sound fantastic.

Wearing these right now. They have amazing sound quality.

I love mine. It's totally worth picking up a portable amp if you're using them, you'd really be surprised how much stronger the bass is.

Doesn't your graphic EQ have a preamp gain?

I have an integrated sound card, and I don't want to buy a discrete one right now, so I settled with a portable amp. You don't realize how much nicer having a real amp is. Also check out how lovey it is:

lol, that's pretty cool.

The M50s are like 38ohms though, an amp isn't really that necessary is it?

Also Windows Media Player has an EQ function. It's not a hardware thing. It doesn't have gain though.
