Author Topic: Taliban Roadside Bomb  (Read 3707 times)

Here is my simple, but effective model of an IED A roadside bomb, used by the Taliban.

It was made in under 5 minutes, and all default events, on Archimedes' Server.

When you activate the remote, the Nokia rings once, then the whole bomb blows up.

There is C4, a Nokia Phone, Wires, and Radioactive Material (For a Dirty Bomb)

2/10

Taliban do NOT use C4.
Also, an IED is much smaller and looks nothing like it.

(and a build made in under 5 minutes shouldn't be put on gallery... its frowned upon)

Not every IED is the same. That's why its 'Improvised'. And I was just bored, and it was simple.

Where did you get the idea of naming it the Taliban IED?

Because the Taliban use IEDs.

Yes, but you called it a Taliban IED, that means that it would follow the conventions that the Taliban use. (AKA, not using C4)
Taliban use IED's to take out vehicles, by putting these IED pressure plates under roads.
I'd like to see you quickly carry that from the nearest sand monday town, dig a hole, place the heavy bomb, cover it up and run away.

yo 5 minute builds are perfectly fine as long as they're pretty or effective or neat in design / function
this however is not an ied and is not pretty looking.

Here you are Furdle. Picked it up, moved it across the road, and set it down. :)

bravo

about time someone stood up to furdle's stuff

You did not show the bombs point of origin in the town, neither did you show digging the hole or covering it up.

my demands were not met.

i'm not exactly sure what makes you think your the lord and sovereign of the gallery thread.

Furdle, an IED can literally fit any shape or size. Who are you to say they can't use C4? The Taliban have taken bombs from jet planes and used those as explosives. Whatever the Taliban can get their hands on to make an improvised explosive device, they could give less of a stuff about how or what, so long as it goes boom. Further, an IED is not restricted by how it's activated. Just because they're most commonly pressure-based, doesn't mean that EVERY SINGLE IED ever made is like that.

I've spent time with my local bomb squad and I've seen bombs they've made for fun / practice (their job entails bomb creation and disposal.) and they make bombs out of DQ carriers, when all four cups are down. They make bombs that explode when a drink cup is half full. They make bombs out of the SIMPLEST things, not even C4 most of the time.

OT: That nokia is probably the only thing to survive the blast.

Lol that's true. By the way Furd, here you are:

They'll never see it coming.

It took me a couple of moments to work out what each of the components of the bomb was, but it looks interesting.

My only problem with it is that it looks like the Nokia phone is one of those old original mobile phones, the ones that were like 1 foot long, and had a suitcase for the battery and all that.

But, Blocklands scale for bricks, and how the brick-grid can't be changed does prevent lots of detail in small places.
I think maybe I'd have gone for a flat vertical print brick, 2 bricks tall, with a custom mobile phone print on it.

It looks nice, and is interesting and unusual.
I can imagine having a couple of these hidden in a build, and someone curiously coming over to check it out, not realising until it's too late what it is.

And I don't think it matters how you've designed it.
It's not like C4 would be impossible to come by for the Taliban, nor that they would avoid using it if they had it.
And an IED is an Improvised bomb. If you have some C4 and a phone and triggers, then you could improvise a bomb out of it.

Also, you should take a picture of it exploding from a distance.
The first picture is kind of just a big flash of brown with some specks of fire. :P

Thanks! I'll add a pic form a distance. :)
