Author Topic: taboo's new "workstation"  (Read 1738 times)

my dad found an eMachines eTower 600is at work, ready to be thrown out, and instead figured he'd bring it home for me to mess around with. after some cable hunting and pushing its internals all back into place, i got it working reasonably well and am using it now.
i would post a dxdiag image but i can't find an image uploader that this computer can handle
instead, here's what it says on the front of the tower:
Quote
600MHz Intel Celeron Processor
32MB SyncDRAM
128KB L2 Cache
10GB Hard drive
3D AGP Intel Direct Graphics
56k Fax modem
specifically, it's an "Intel 82810 Graphics Controller," with a whole 8MB of available memory. surprisingly enough, it already had DirectX 9.0c installed.
the computer's running windows ME... barely.
the fan's loud as hell.
it has only 1 USB port on the front.
the sound card seems totally broken.
and i loves it.

this is the keyboard

which is now my new main keyboard, forget the police (only issue is that the space bar is nearly detached and sometimes doesn't work; should be an easy fix)

this is the mouse

it honestly isn't that bad, but the ball (yeah, it's ball mouse) doesn't seem to roll quite right on the y-axis, so i'll probably get rid of it

discuss old computers, their swag, and how incredible it is that computers have improved so much over the course of a decade or so.

i've been borrowing a friend's computer since my good one was stolen; this one ismostly just for laughs. i'm probably going to harvest it for organs eventually. (that 10gb hard drive will be so handy!!!) (it actually has 2 CD drives that i could use though)

PS/2 is superior for keyboards. It supports NKR unlike USB.

omg, that's almost as much as my thumb drive, you lucky sob

Nice, I myself have a Windows 98 eMachines tower in my room and an iMac G3.

What's NKR? None of the things on Google looked right.

If you mean n-key rollover, that's dependent on the keyboard itself, not the interface.

I am a monday.

woah brah you should put a Nvidia Titan in that stuff

salvage the case and put a gaming computer inside of it

Dude that computer sounds gross lol

oh my god

I want it :c

i have two rigs. one for show, and one i use. the one for show uses a mega powerful dual rage 128 card setup, an  intel celeron processor running at a competition-destroying 500 mHz, and with a whopping 1GB of RAM. i havnt found a good chassis for it yet though.
