Author Topic: Markus Persson nominated for TIMEs top 100 people  (Read 1567 times)

ITT: Notch is overrated

Care to explain why?

I really would love to know why people like you, rave and nalnalas want to stuff all over notch's parade because he's being nominated as one of the top 100 people.

He made a game that got famous all over the world. Why wouldn't he deserve to be honored?
I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve the reward

Oh.

Yeah, the anti-Minecraft badwagon that exists on this forums just for the fact that it is popular is pathetic. That's like saying the Gameboy is bad or the NES.

They are.

what is it about minecraft you guys actually hate? apart from the community the game itself has nothing wrong with it.

They are.
Have you even played them? There are some really good games on them.

except all of the glitches
and all of the networking problems
and the fact it's optimized worse than a torque game made by a five year old

The point I'm trying to make is that the game isn't impressive on it's own, but the sheer fact that it got so popular is.

But it's not that notch made a popular game, it's that he's still a modest man, despite his success.

nothing major though
Name me the network problems please.
if you have a good computer, even one with 3gb of ram it should run nice.

yeah, of course you're going to say that without any evidence but slight anecdotal, and then ask me to provide evidence
just because it can run on a bad computer doesn't mean it isn't badly optimized lol

Glitches exist in many games. I mean, look at TF2.
Again, Steam has networking problems, too.
And Optimisation is just a Java issue. I would agree that the game needs a better engine, but if your computer cannot run Minecraft, just buy a new one.

I agree, it's badly optimised, but hating on it for it's popularity is just no reason, I just don't see the problem with the network part though.

It doesn't go down nearly as much as steam does.

I don't agree on this, java isn't the problem here, and buying a new computer over one game is just silly.

Then just get a new GPU? Seriously, you guys make it seem like it's so cheap to upgrade a PC.

It is if you aren't paying it :cookieMonster:

Most decent GPUs and CPUs are expensive.
