Baritone/Euphonium is the way to go. I actually own one myself and play it in band. It's easier to learn than clarinet and requires less air.

Yeah, they can be similar, but 4 fingerings for a B? That's crazy. The simple fingerings are also almost always the ones that are horribly out of tune, so you have to do these crazy fingerings. I'll stick to my Annoying Orangeet/Tenor Saxophone.

i used to play clarinet, quit because the band teacher was no fun and we were forced to go every friday lunch time (i guess it's fair of them to do that.. but it was no fun at all because of the teacher and the songs we learnt werent good at all)

What mouthpiece do you use?
I use a cheater piece, Schilke 14A4a, I can hit a D off the staff, E on a good day.

Have you had any experience with the two instruments?
Out of experience, the clarinet has a higher learning curve, the baritone is easier to learn. The only thing is once you get good at clarinet, you get really good. I've never seen just plain good clarinet players, only stuffty ones or amazing ones.
As for baritone, I've never personally learned it, but since I'm a brass player I find it really easy to play.

It doesn't sound vile, but playing it sure as hell is.
All the simple fingerings that similar to the sax are out of tune. The more in-tune ones are weird. Also, to play a G in tune, you have to shade it, which is pretty stupid.
