Author Topic: I'm considering modding an orginal GBA to have the SP's backlit screen.  (Read 3020 times)

Man this is some great information. I'll definitely try contacting some of those people and see if they can get me a ribbon cable.

If you can't end up getting an adapter from one of them, I suggest asking for one at the Trading Post on Chipmusic.org. Chipmusic.org is also a great place to get help with your project (because let's face it: this isn't exactly the ideal forum lol). Keep us posted!

This was the worst thing about the DS for me.
It's the reason I loved the GameBoy Advance/SP, because it could play GBA games and GameBoy/Color games.
Then the DS cuts out a large chunk of the games existing for the Gameboys.

And then 3DS got even more stupid and they removed the GBA slot, so you can't play any of those on it.
And special games, like Guitar Hero GBA used to have a Guitar Hero key-pad that would plug into the GBA slot to play with. Those are completely impossible to play on a 3DS now.

To be fair the Game Boy line concluded after the DS line launched. The OXY/Micro was released after the NTR/DS. As a matter of fact: the two were developed simultaneously. They are separate product lines. The DS was a new gimmick that Nintendo took in an entirely different direction from the Game Boy line. Hell, if you want something to be mad at, be mad at the OXY - which was an actual Game Boy model that lacked backwards-compatibility with DMG and CGB titles. There is yet to be a DS model that does what the OXY did to the Game Boy line to the DS line. Guitar Hero doesn't count :P

I always saw the inclusion of the slot on the NTR and USG as an act of kindness.

I just think it's a stupid thing to complain about. No offense.
