Personally? Because I want to be able to retaliate against a tyrannical government if I need to. You can say "hurr consipitard" all you want but if stuff hits the fan, I'll be ready. Surrendering your weapons is the first step to tyranny. The second amendment was created specifically to rebel against an oppressive government if we needed to.

Reminds me of this one time when there was a woman who was a cook that use to live down my street. Apparently she was dating a guy who was dating another female cook. The other female cook found out that her boyfriend was dating the woman on my street and wanted him all for herself. So she got a bag of rosemary and alcohol started a fire on the woman's front porch which cut off any escape attempts(the woman and her only son were too fat to fit through a window). They were burned alive.

well what did you think guns were for? yeah the second ammendment didnt forsee the types of weapons we have today. but it was intended for us to protect ourselves from our own, or another government. match for match.
