Author Topic: Whats the correct boot sequence to load from a USB flash drive?  (Read 979 times)

Install the ISO to the Flash Drive via a program. I prefer this one. (Windows is lower on the menu)
Stick USB flash drive into USB port.
Reboot.
When the BIOs menu shows up press the button that lets you choose what to boot too. (This is before ANYTHING that says Windows)

Select the flash drive and you're done, run through the installer, your computer will reboot near the end of the installer, DO NOT SELECT THE FLASH DRIVE JUST BOOT TO THE HARD DRIVE!

You should be done.
thanks
I thought I just keep rebooting into the flashdrive until its done.
Wait though, I only boot from it once?

Yes boot from it once.

Pressing F8, F10, or Del before the Windows OS load begins can sometimes open a menu that lets you navigate to the Removable USB drive option on a list.

If you can't make that work, temporarily set the USB drive option to the top of the list in the BIOS/CMOS boot order.

Some computers use Esc too. It's worth trying.

Just opened my BIOS, when getting into it there is a boot menu.
I can select the USB there.

Yes you can do it this way but make sure you swap it back after.

You're supposed to boot from a menu though.

That's what I was saying.

I'm also installing windows 7, are you sure its ok to just boot from USB one time?

Anyway, at startup there is three screens, one flashing asus with its "press DEL to enter efi bios" or something like that, then its Realtek Gigabit Ethernet something, saying to press shift F10 to enter its setup (does this all the time) then same asus screen as before
Will I have to reinstall the Realtek Gigabit Ethernet thing?
