Author Topic: We should legalize Psilocybin Mushrooms. - HAPPY 4/23!!!  (Read 4135 times)

I am seriously not getting some peoples arguments here. You should be allowed to consume any substance, enjoy it or not, not have to face a huge tax, and you MUST face the consequences of your own decisions. Like Crystal Meth? Fine, understand if you violate someone's rights, you will face consequences. Preventative action is talk of statism. Arresting someone on a before they commit a crime is unconstitutional, why should banning something to do the same purpose allowed? Just because you don't like something or think it's in bad taste, doesn't mean it should be banned. I don't want any of you people telling me what the forget I can and can't do with my body.
And if you are smart enough to handle said substances, you wont get caught by the law. Simple.

ill be honest, never done drugs before.

It shouldn't be against the law because the government shouldn't be able to tell us what we can and cannot put in our bodies.

Most of us fear what actions people will do under the influence of these substances. What if you take a drug and are incapable of handling the action and hurt someone/a lot of people? Oh it's fine they will just arrest you and be done with it. Lives lost that day? Ah we don't care more lives will be made tomorrow. I get that you have rights to do whatever you want to your body, but since you are also free to go out in the world around you under the influence of these substances you can just hurt others for no reason.

Maybe they should only be allowed inside your house but not on the streets. I mean what counts more, the pleasure for 1 human or the safety for a dozen?

you both are making very good points.

Being outside like that, like public intoxication, should be illegal.

Putting a price on a life is never a good thing, But statistically speaking, Portugal decriminalized all drugs about 15 years ago and all their drug abuse levels went down. Given, Decriminalization is not complete legalization, but that can only make us speculate what happens when it is completely legalized. We already know how it worked with alcohol. The theory in play is called the Forbidden Fruit Theory.

Ok. Some drugs should be legalized but with limits. Such as public intoxication being illegal like nonnel said but with not as serious charges. Because paranoid people like me don't like hanging around intoxicated people in the public. And I say some drugs because there are some really powerful and very harmful drugs out there that should remain illegal. Also if they do plan to make such changes in the future, they should test it first to see how people will react, I mean in my eyes Americans act more differently than Porugese people.

Your point is very valid, but why would you need a special law prohibiting public influence of drugs? I think that all poor behavior could be placed in a broad law of Public Misconduct. That way the only people arrested are the people who really are causing a disturbance. I can fully understand not wanting to be around some guy baked out of his head.

I agree with this guy.

Yes good idea about the Public Misconduct. I can see this working but the overall faith in this actually working is in the hands of the people to whether they mess up and abuse it to get it illegalized again or just act like normal human beings.

Well, this is where trying it in the US needs to begin.
