The GUIs are downloaded from a website.

oh theres no potential harm in that right?!
Not like someone could jam pack like 900 viruses malware spywares and like 1000tb of research there?

RIGHT?!?!?!?!?

It's no more risk than any time a server links you to it's GUI on mediafire or whatever. But that's always a (rather extremist) possibility.

4th picture, header text, "This server had downloadable guis".

Looks like it has potential, would like to see a better interface design later down the road though, good job.

What about that chat client?
What about BlockOS?
:(

I like where this is going.

Is the server-side code available? I'd love to support it by running it on Boss Battles.

Ah, thanks. That GUI is definitely going to be remade at some point.

Yep, both server and client are available.

RTB has chat cornered and I don't want to reinvent the wheel. The BlockOS remake was finished and separated from the main project.

What about the people that don't have RTB?

It works the exact same without it.

Server rating is garbage.
Imagine a group of idiots spamming that downvote button because they ragequitted the server or similar

Actually I bet it will be used by players who don't like the server or do like it.

Nice work.

I'll outline a few reasons why I gave server ratings a miss as a feature for RTB:

  • People have different tastes in servers. Some people hate CityRPs and would downvote them while others like them and would upvote them. This doesn't reflect the quality of the server at all. I see this as a fundamental flaw in any ratings system because for ratings to be useful they must be relevant to the people who would play on that server.
  • There's no incentive to positively rate a server but plenty to negatively rate one.
  • Mobs will form with the sole intention of downvoting a server to oblivion based on a drama thread.
  • Any kind of moderator action is basically going to guarantee the server a downvote from the player.

Generally in my experience playing the game, the best indicator of popularity is the number of players on the server. People don't stick around on a legitimately crap server - they go and find a better one. If you can come up with a solution that addresses all those points then you've probably got a pretty decent system. I just feel like when you have such a small centralised community it becomes very hard to derive value from something like this.

A time requirement could solve both of these. Spammers would need to waste their time in a less spammy way.

I haven't been able to address this yet, but I have a few ideas. Some sort of reward for rating servers.

Hopefully that one low rating can be filtered out by others if it is truly incorrect, but completely blacklisting a player would remove the ability to downvote a server for having bad administration.

Doesn't really solve the first one. That's not a case of abuse or anything, it's the fact that people just don't like that style of server.

If you offer a reward you're encouraging ratings for the sake of getting the reward which means they're probably not going to be genuine ratings. You could possibly address this by making sure the user played on the server for however long, but then that means you need the server to be running your add-on to detect this which limits the usefulness of the ratings.

Hopefully that one low rating can be filtered out by others if it is truly incorrect, but completely blacklisting a player would remove the ability to downvote a server for having bad administration.

But then blacklisting could be used just to blacklist anyone planning to downvote the server meaning you've got a rigged system essentially.

Perhaps it needs to be like-only?
