In 1 episode during the second season (japanese consider it the 2nd half of the first season as they didn't split it up like America)  Ash states he has been on his journey for 1 year and is now 11.

In all the episodes and movies since, however, his age had been restated as 10.

Not only they don't get older but their cultural references age.
