What roleplay experience do you have : I’ve role-played some months as Francis in Winterbite, when it just began. I think I had stopped playing a few weeks after the comeback of the Republic. I’ve also played as seriously as possible in many silly space/zombie/etc role-plays. Out of Blockland, I tend to role-play even in unrelated game genres. It can go as far as LoZ…

Characters age: 25 when he reached Greenwood, now 27 (assuming the storyline reached 2014).
Gender: Male
Future ambitions: What satisfies Francis the most is to keep climbing higher on the "Ladder of Usefulness" or something. Very pragmatic.
Skills:
-Certified “pipe fitter”. He can install, assemble, maintain and repair piping, heating or cooling systems, provided he has the right tools. With enough resources, he can also fabricate piping components.*
*Pipefitting and plumbing are on slightly different scopes, but I guess a pipefitter could do plumber tasks without much trouble. Google time.
-Efficient data gatherer and brown townyzer, good critical thinking and decision making abilities. Prior to the Infection, at least…
-Competent computer programmer and blueprint drafter (skills related to his job).
Characters Appearance: White with black hair. Clothed with dark grey overalls, a dark blue sweater, a black tuque and black gloves. He carries a grey backpack. Dull colours, yes!
Characters biography/back-story:
Francis was born in 1988. His parents, Rurik Sadovsky (Russian) and Gillian Grey (Alaskan), were high-sea fishers: they coincidentally met on an Alaskan crab fishing* crew they had joined. Failing to make a monetary profit, they drew back to less dangerous fishing as, well, a couple… Their son was a timid, yet cooperative youngling according to his teachers. At primary school, he had creative hobbies at primary school such as drawing plans or tinkering carton mock-ups. At home, he could speak Russian a little bit, an asset he eventually lost.
*Google again…I tried my best to remove all silliness without removing the base idea.
In 2005, Francis finished high-school and pursued studies in mechanical engineering. Around this time, however, his father showed the first symptoms of the Parkinson disease. Losing too much dexterity, Rurik got out of work while Gillian had not so good profits. Financial issues stroke the aging pair while Francis only had a moderate salary as a pipefitter assistant. The apprentice finally obtained his license in 2010. Until the end of 2012, Rurik’s condition was worsening, but then the Genementer showed up. The three folks didn’t know any better option: they spent most of their savings to get the Genementer for Rurik, who made use of it and quickly regained his lost mobility. Gillian also used the injector to improve her health. Francis didn’t had the intention to use the cure, thus he never did.
November 2012. Francis was working in an Alaskan refinery: a hundred people were on site. Several coworkers showed signs of mental instability, and soon a dozen of infected workers assaulted their colleagues, who fought them back using the machinery and tools at their disposal. In the end, only a third of the workers were left and even less did not had severe wounds. Isolated from populated areas and aware that the Infection was a global event, the survivors relied on local supplies but could not save the most injured as medical resources lacked.
Around twenty people made it through the month when contact was established with Greenwood. Aboard a hauler, they headed to the camp (it was hundreds of kilometers away) but got startled by a horde of zombies by the end of the trip. The team lost multiple members and was scattered. Francis managed to reach Greenwood camp, uninformed about his group’s or relatives’ fate. Attempting to leave the past behind, he assumed that the team was history and that his augmented kindreds were now mutated beyond recognition, period.
Past role-play event: After a cold meeting with the Modernizers, Francis (who somehow acquired a gun that was lying around) encountered a madman who cursed everybody, threatened him with a pistol and cornered him. The latter got shot in the abdomen and emptied his gun’s magazine on the former, who was instantly killed by the desperate move. Francis was then quickly brought from the Modernizers' base to the Bandit camp and was hospitalized. This event, stacked to the horrors and sorrows of the previous month, deteriorated Francis’ mental well-being.
What faction do you hope to join?
As Francis, I would obviously aim to join the modernizers. But beyond that, I don’t think I have a favorite faction yet.
PS: English is my secondary language, although I may write even more in English than in French…Yet, I sometimes have to use an online translator in the case I don’t get the meaning of something or if I need to figure out how to write my mind. Syntax/grammar can get wrong at times, too.
