Try out the demo and decide you hate the game before even buying it.
My point being that people don't want to waste an amount of money on a game before even trying it to see if they like it, so they download a pirated version

Never pirate indie games. It's insulting and they need that money just to make ends meat.

Except Phil Fish is a cunt.

That's complete bullstuff. They should look at youtube videos. Maybe check up on some reviews, ask some friends. Do some research.

You don't need to pirate a game because there is no demo.

I didn't need to play the demo on blockland. I was already sold on watching youtube videos about it. The demo was just a bonus to keep me occupied until I bought it.

What about KeyGens? Technically they got the key by paying the developer but what's the point because they're impossible to get anyway.
I just buy stuff. for example flash.

Not everyone can see themselves playing a game by just watching videos. I almost always ended up with a different reaction to the game demo than that of gameplay videos. Battlefield 3 sure looks fun when this guys is playing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCdpuOM4E28, but I'm almost certain that the story will be completely different with my skill level.

and no matter how careful you are a lot of pirated software has viruses. Fatdog used to advertise fake blockland keygens that came with malicious worm files that eat your harddrive.

If the service for acquiring the game is flawed, piracy grows. Only way people are going to stop piracy is if they make the service as pleasant as possible.

I never said that you need to pirate a game because it doesn't have a demo.

People just don't want to spend money on a game they've never tried before, and see piracy as a way of not wasting their cash

Like I said,
To be honest, I dislike piraters, but not absolutely hate them, I just kind-of look down towards it considering it's what's causing some of these bullstuff laws these days like the Copyright Alert System act and also one of the reasons EA has DRM on the games that they make today, and even then people still pirate EA games to boycott them, but that's just making them put even more DRM onto their games and angering customers, instead of just not buying them which would actually perhaps make an effect on them, they pirate them and as I said, causing them to put more DRM onto their games. But basically, I don't hunt-you-down-and-kill-you hate piracy, but I basically find it disrespectful and, what's the word i'm looking for, I can't remember it, something like shameful, but I don't care about their excuses, which I will now list below.

"Oh, well I just pirate games to try them out THEN buy them." - Okay, so you pirate a game to try it out, then buy it..? Why don't you just watch a Let's Play video of it? "oh well because then it contains spoil-" goddamnit if you don't want spoilers why are you pirating the dang game to play it

"I pirate them to boycott [insert a horrible game company here]" - Look at the above, pirating will just cause them to lock the game up even more with DRM/SecuROM/whatever there is availible to them.

piracy isnt the killer you all think it is.
console games being traded into game stores and resold are worse on the income of devs then piracy ever was.

I remember reading an article about a game developer who ran a poll asking people why they pirated games, and the vast majority answered either 'I can't afford to buy it' or 'Because of DRM'

This topic is against the rules.

Demo or not, you still have that group of people who is going to steal the game and get it for free.
