I eat them only if they were only put on before hand. Even still, I wipe off excess. However, marinara is acceptable because it's just tomato. (I can't stand the dense sauces like ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc)

Condiments are used to compliment the dish, usually.

I put a dab of Italian dressing or a bit of Russian dressing on most foods, maybe even ranch sometimes. Salad dressings have the most "character", in my honest opinion. Catsup for the more basic foods like cheeseburgers or hash browns.
