Author Topic: Did Youtube Break?  (Read 764 times)

The dislike fraction of the rating bar has been broken all day on every video.

Looks like 0 people didn't <video reference>.

The dislikes start at 0 for me then actually load after the video starts.

Same here. Starts at 0, then loads after a few seconds.

at least people who have more dislikes than likes can now have their self-esteem raised

It's always been broken on the default YouTube application on iOS devices (the liking feature).

Damn it, I thought youtube suddenly became a nicer place for a while there

Disabling dislikes wouldn't make YouTube a nicer place. It would stifle criticism.

It's like when people upload controversial videos, only to disable ratings because it has 90% dislikes.

I don't know, I think disabling dislikes would be a bit more positive. If a video didn't have a lot of likes than it could be assumed it wasn't well received or it just wasn't good enough for people to click a button to like it.

It'd stop people from giving views to videos just to bandwagon dislike them.

Except negative feedback is what shapes your behavior. If you learn that a lot people hate your video, you will try harder next time to make sure they like it more (Or just give up)

But just a dislike doesn't help. It doesn't tell you what was bad.

Maybe everyone just likes videos now.
