Author Topic: Remote Administration --- RELEASED + Zapk is making a new ui  (Read 3323 times)

I started on this tonight, and I hope to have a version out to test tomarrow.
It's a little gui which you can bring up from anywhere ingame, (button on the main menu + ingame keybind) that shows you tons of information about a server. Additionally you can login with a password (like an admin password) to access certain features, such as the ability to warn, kick, kill, clear the bricks of, or ban players.

The main gui.
I'll post more pictures with the gen admin tab and other tabs for that section once I add them.
The message box at the bottom has 5 differnet options, or tabs.
Admin, which is admin actions. Shows actions such as bans, kicks, and other admin things and who did them.
Events, such as minigame resets, joining and leaving players, and deaths.
Chats, exactly what it says.
Status, which shows things such as connection attempts, server feedback, weather you got the password right, and so on.

The petite server select gui, just click a server to paste it's IP in.

The way this works is that it is a "system" addon with both a client and server side.
You'd basically put this in your server's add-on folder, and also put a copy in your client at home.
The assumption is that if you can host, you can port forward one more port, but if you can't I'll also be working on an option with a centrally hosted server you can use, provided you don't mind all your admin actions going though me first.
Obviously this is meant for serious dedicated servers where it can be difficult or time consuming to get to the console, but it could save time even if you were just hosting from home.

I would like to help beta test this.

Good to see I got some intrest in this.
Now, which one of you is hosting or will be hosting soon, a somewhat popular server?
(and doesn't mind me giving them constant updated versions)

edit:
I have a testing version available, idk if I should post it publically or not though.

Atm the features that work are:
Logging of things like chats, deaths, joinings and leavings.
Players list, along with showing name and blid, and if they're alive, position health and tool.
The ability to set a password and to login with it.  (SA only command is /blrspassword <password>)
The ability to kick, warn, or forcekill them. (requires login)
The ability to broadcast a message to the server. (requires login)

Wow this is pretty cool, imagine if someone could even turn this into a separate program! Right now its cool the way it works though and will help a lot of people who use dedicated hosting services or people who have their BL server in their basement lol.

It won't be too useful for me because RTB hosting already does most of this but it's a really good idea for people that host their dedicated server themselves

I think it would be more useful as a website though, that way we could manage the server while we aren't at home / on blockland

I could make that pretty easily, actually.
Once I release the addon and make sure the server part (of the addon) works okay, I'll make a web interface for it.

Also, I completed the admin commands on the players tab.
Just a few more minutes and I'll release a testing version.

I'll leave that link there for a bit.
Tell me if you get it.
(the only thing that shouldn't work is the "clear relays" which would essentially be /cancelallevents)

Cool, but my eyes. Blocklander's need to spend more time making their UI look atleast half decent.

How does that chat work?

How does that chat work?
Once I know it works well I'll focus on that.
Also, I updated it, adding a "clear message windows" button and changing the "clear relays" button to a "next track" button that'll work on speedkart servers.

Anyone using it yet?
I'd love to try and connect.

UI isn't so important for the first beta, but I agree with that it's currently really ugly.
