Author Topic: Plane crashes in afghanistan, caught on tape  (Read 2265 times)

Woah.. That's insane...

My father who is an aircraft technician and my neighbor who is a pilot were discussing this the other day.

Due to the extreme angle at which the aircraft stalled, the cargo likely shifted following takeoff and moved to the back of the plane. A cargo shift was reported, and the flight crew in the roosterpit attempted to recover by bringing the nose down to gain speed. At this point, the cargo shifted forward in the cargo hold and the flight crew attempted to pull up once more before a member of the personnel radioed: "We aren't going to recover." The crash followed.

The likely cause of the crash was improper restraint of the cargo. Somebody's going to get in so much hot water for this.

DYK that if you fly a damaged airplane at a 5 degree angle you can't stall

I laughed at the part where it dropped out of the sky like a rock. I'm a terrible person

i've always wondered why people were recording before these kind of things happened

Like hell they're gonna get in hot water.
I'm fairly certain it's against cargo flight protocol to not have the cargo strapped down, would I be correct there?

Same here.
Probably for airport traffic reports or something in this case.

It honestly doesn't happen much.
Compare the large amount of bomb explosions, car crashes, plane crashes and whatnot that happen everyday which are never caught on film, to the few that occasionally are.

It's only due to unusual circumstances (compared to the majority of the world) that any of these are sometimes caught on camera.
Take the meteor over Russia. The only reason there's such a large stock of footage of it is because of how many Russian drivers have cameras on their vehicles for insurance purposes. That's not a very common thing in other countries.

And I suppose this being Afghanistan, chances are that cameras are on to take footage of perhaps any suspicious activity or even in case of IED's or whatnot.

I don't know the full facts about what exactly caused the crash, but there are chances that the cargo was strapped down, but those straps faultered during the flight.
Eitherway there's certainly some fault here. But whether it is entirely down to a single-person or crew or not isn't truly known.

Wow.  What dumbass didn't restrain the cargo?

It's almost impossible for anyone to predict these sort of things, but they do happen.

Just watch any sort of Aircrash Investigation TV programme and you'll see how most crashes are caused by unusual and minute .
Oh my god I love Air Crash Investigation. I'm an airfan

"The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for the crash, but the coalition dismissed the claim as "false" in a statement to AP."

-.-

-.-
that is idiotic

the idiotic part is that they would claim it

wow
are they are asking for every country's loving military to knock on their doorstep?

No.
The Taliban will just claim responsibility for every accident and tragedy that happens in the US and in the Middle East.
They just want people to fear them and believe they're getting revenge, or are showing off their power.

They'll claim they're responsible for things they had no hand in just to seem menacing.

And most of the world is pretty much against Taliban actions.
Them claiming responsibility for an accidental crashing of a cargo plane with a handful of people on it isn't going to stir the rest of the world up much.

Seems that the planes angle of the nose was too far up, possibly about 40-60 degrees, and they maybe were going to land, so their speed was slow but they were falling faster than usual, so they attempted to shove the engines forward and go around, but due to the cargo and weight of the plane, they pulled up too early, causing them to stall, and crash.
That is my assumption on this.
