Author Topic: ►►►How to use Google to search the Blockland Forums!  (Read 2679 times)

I created this little tutorial since the search button is gone for now, lets say I want to search for a certain topic but the search button is gone, I do on google:
site:forum.blockland.us [put what you want to search for here]
Lets say I want to search for Gravity Cat's Weapons,

It worked!
I can click on there, and it takes me to his topic, you can search for anything you want, remember, use this:
site:forum.blockland.us [put what you want to search for here].
Hope this helps, also Shell found this out.
Also, don't put the [ and the ].

I for one cannot use Google or Bing because they slow down my browser like crazy and Bing gives me viruses.

This wasn't needed.

Doesn't really work that well. I had a topic a while back. It was for my Call of Duty national socialist Zombies server. I did exactly what it said and I couldn't find it.

Well, it seems to be working for me.

I think your computer has viruses and it does something when you hit onto bing or google.

Nope, scanned it.

Also, what I searched in the bar was:
site:forum.blockland.us Gravity Cats Weapons
You don't put the ['s.

Ok now I found it, but it took me a LOT longer than it would've with the search bar. 5 minutes vs 30 seconds.

Eh, its just a alternative until the Search button comes back, if it does.

Also, I might bump this every 30 or so days so it doesn't get too old, and so everyone can still see it.

I can't search for a "Seriously?" GIF on the forums.

I mean, I know its stupid, but until the search button comes back if it does, I'll bump this.

I never knew people relied this much on the search button. I barley ever use it.

But what if you wanted to find posts in a specific board and/or by a specific user?
Google is useless for that.

And many issues I had with searching for stuff on here through Google is that Google also stores ;wap2 and https:// (which no longer works) pages, which I find annoying.

Well, we're going to have to stick with what we have for now, atleast we still have some form of searching.

this is a stupid tutorial
like seriously, you're only giving people one little thing to help

ideally, for a board, you would add "board=1.0" to the search. that example is for General Discussion, but it would be different for all the boards. but that doesn't seem to work
as for the user, just add their username to the search (probably would be best to use quotes in the search, for that). this will work almost all of the time, but it will also include any times that someone else said the name
