Author Topic: Why do average joe people think the iPhone is the only type of damn smartphone?  (Read 3373 times)

I still have my Palm Tungesten.
I got it when I was 9, I only wanted it because it looked really cool.
At the time, that was considered a tablet.

Whenever I hear the word "Smartphone", I think of a Blackberry for some reason.

Anyway, Ubuntu Mobile looks pretty good, but it has demanding system requirements.
See here http://www.ubuntu.com/phone

I didn't even know Ubuntu existed on mobile devices. Does Ubuntu get as many viruses as Windows OS?

I don't know if it is fully released yet, but I think Linux-Based OSes in general (Ubuntu, Slackware, Debian, etc.) don't get as many viruses, than some other OSes, because they are not as commonly used, there are a lot of different variations, and they problems are usually found quickly. Mobile OSes would probably get less viruses, because they are a fairly new thing on the market.

I on the other hand don't know stuff about smartphones and only use an iPhone because I got it as a present.

It's pretty cool.

There are just too many variations of Linux, IMO.
It's not worth having a Android and worrying about viruses, when you could have an iOS device like an iPhone and not worry about viruses.

Windows Phone is pretty lovey

I've noticed how when people can't afford an iPhone and buy an alternative to it, they start bragging about how good their crappy Android device is and how iPhones and Apple sucks.
It makes me laugh.

Haha, I love it how you are talking about yourself.

No I wasn't, I just don't like when someone judges a product and it's quality by the price of it.

You don't have to worry about viruses on an Android device. Anyone who worries about viruses on their phone is going to the wrong websites.

The reason why I like my phone over an iPhone has nothing to do with the operating system. The specs are comparable or better and the screen is larger. In my opinion a phone screen should be as large as it can be where I can still hold the thing like a phone.

I've used an iPhone before, but don't own one.
The iPhone keyboards are tiny like the iPod Touch's.

I hate apple devices and I only use android. I have my facts.
-Apple devices are terribly overpriced
-Apple devices have worse performing hardware than most new Androids but cost more.
Compare an A6 1.3ghz  @ 2 cores and a popular Android processor like the Snapdragon s4 Pro 1.7 GHz @ 4 cores with Adreno 320 GPUs.

I have many more reasons, but I am seriously fed up with people buying Apple devices. In my opinion, they aren't smart buyers.

I think you can guess that I typed this post from my Android tablet. Nobody in my family will or will ever want to buy from Apple, and don't get me started on how bad Mac is.
That is all I wish to say from my opinion. I don't want garbage that costs $400+ when I can get something much more high performing and modifiable and customizable at $200 and less.
Also, Apple devices will never be 100% secure or virus free just because less people buy them. They just try to trick you.
