Author Topic: Why aren't we able to have more default hats?  (Read 1676 times)

It seems that we've only had the same hats for the past 6 years, is there a limit for player customization or something?

The hats don't disappear after they're not put on. They're just transparent.
The more hats, the more processing power needed to constantly render them.

the whole character creation screen is badly done in my opinion
we cant have hair and everyone looks the same excluding their textures

plus things never disappear, they are just made invisible

Because hats are completely useless

Damnit, why not just mount clothing to the player?

The avatar screen is done on un hiding and hiding parts of models. For new cosmetics to get added, Badspot has to modify the entire player model.

It takes more processing power to keep hiding and un hiding these nodes.

why cant we just use .dts models for our player and a part actually gets removed when removed.

I loled, since everything in this god damn has a crazy limitation.

Is that really true about how hats don't actually get removed when you take them off? Why is this?

Because they're nodes on the player model like the hands/hooks, the feet/peg legs, etc, to have them removed would mean that they'd have to be DTS models separate from the player model and may require additional scripting(?)

It seems easier to use nodes for items in terms of scripting because of the hideNode and unHideNode functions only taking up a single line in comparison to mounting a DTS object on a node, you'd also have to have a datablock for each and every item, which, even though there's a hard to hit datablock limit, it still seems like an unnecessary usage of datablocks

But i do wonder if things would be more or less optimized if the items were separate from the player model

I once had an awesome thought for an update that added so many new things, such as new hats, new backpacks, other accessories.
I remember it looked like a larger Player Customization but with so many more boxes, and you could sometimes equip item combos like a bandana and glasses. Anyone else think this may be brilliant/possible?

Badspot also lost the original player files according to Ephialtes.

Maybe he could re-create them? Possibly? No? Okay.

shaper could probably be used to retrieve the original
/no modelling experience /don't really know

Badspot should stop doing all these add-on updates and do something larger that can't be done by the players - like redoing and optimizing the player model, then he should add some more stuff to choose from too.
(someone will probably shoot this idea down instantly)
