v0002*

RTB and TBM are both mods of v0002 which add in a bunch of new things to play with, i don't know much about TBM, but RTB added in things like a trust system for who can and can't interact with your bricks, an Editor Wand that could select a single brick and modify it's scale, rotation and position, a wrench that could do various things, one of the wrench's modes could make bricks move or rotate when activated by the player, this would be used to make things like doors or elevators, and much more stuff that i haven't listed

It also adds in a TON of new bricks, paint colors and player customization options
TBM = The Better Mod
DTB = Death To Block

TBM had tons of bricks, tons of paints and instead of an editor wand you had a staff and DTB added more weapons. I personally liked TBM better than RTB. (I absolutely despised TBM too because at the time they had a super awful community)

Retail is a lot better than rtb and tbm combined so you should be glad those are all gone.

I know that I joined before V7, but V7 for me was the time where I could be arsed building stuff.
I will always remember you, twenty story hotel.

I know TBM is The Better Mod, but i only played it once and never really explored much of it, and yeah, TBM didn't have a very good community, they really despised RTB for some reason i can't remember

I just found a game called "the orange block" which is basically a slightly updated version of TBM, if anybody used TBM could you tell me if its different or not?

In the beginning...

There was a man named Eric, but he just went by Badspot.
Badspot had a dream...a dream of a lego building game.
In November of 2004, the first beta version of Blockland became available.

Blockland Beta (v0002)
Everything was exactly like legos.
The brick studs, the mini-figure, the tools, everything!
There were two maps; a bedroom map that's a little different from the one we remember today and a flat building area with a grassy ground texture.
Bricks were very limited, and the whole "trust" system wasn't added yet.  Basically, you were able to do what you're still able to do in Minecraft today without mods or plug-ins - GRIEF!

Badspot was asked by Lego if they could take over the game for him and in return they'd give him a few years helping with the development of the game.
But, after a while, it seemed that Lego had completely forgotten about it, so Badspot went on release retail Blockland on his own.

Versions 1 through 1.031
The studs were no longer circular and were instead square so that Lego couldn't come back and sue him later.
A few extra bricks were added and the bedroom became what it is today.  The grasslands also became the slate.
The add-on system was also added so that players could edit their game to improve it.  However, it was still a work in progress.
The tutorial map was also added for new players.
The hammer and wrench tools were also made to be less lego-like and the printer was added for print bricks.
The guis that you open to place bricks, use tools and get out paint cans were also changed from just plain blocky to what we have today.
The avatar became what it is today.
The kitchen map was added along with plenty of new bricks and default builds.
The server gui now had that annoying color code that you see today and color coding was taken out of the server chat.
Vehicles were also added along with a few "special" bricks, including the music brick.
Admins now had the ability to go into "orb mode" so that they could teleport from place to place whenever and wherever they wanted.
Awesome new tools and weapons were added, such as the gun, guns akimbo, bow, horse ray and spear.
Lights and emitters were also added.
The once great slopes were added.
The player light was also added.

Also, Blockland became available for those of you who are stupid enough to use a Macintosh!

Versions 7 and 8
Versions 2 through 6 were skipped and Badspot went straight to 7.
Both of these version were simply patch versions to fix bugs.  There wasn't really anything added in them.

Version 9
The event system was finally added!
The tutorial map was extended for features that had been added in the game since and so that you could practice building at the end.
The famous tank vehicle was also added.
The add-on system was revamped (improved - it's now what we have today).

Version 10
Just another patch update.

Version 11
You know how you can shoot a rocket out of a rocket launcher and it will make any bricks it hits "splatter" all around?  That was finally added!  They were called "Blockland Physics".  Plenty of YouTube videos were made to show you how to use events to mess around with the physics and to show you awesome tricks done with them.
This was an awesome Christmas present from Badspot.

Version 12
You know how you have to download files when you join a sever?  That's been there, but it was changed slightly so that stuff such as music, textures, sound and prints were optional to download.  If you didn't want to wait for the files to download, you could now go to your options menu and tell it NOT to download certain files.  However, if so is done, some server features will be missing.
The arch bricks were also added.
A hammer could now break bricks in walls, not just on top.
Trust level 3 was added to prevent players from using the wand tool to destroy your build, even with full trust (trust level 2 - build trust is trust level 1).
The "crouch" key was removed due to players complaining that their crouch key doesn't work.
You know how when you use too many events it says, "Too many events at one!" and all your events are cancelled?  It used to say, "Schedule Quota Hit."
You know how it says "Ghosting" when bricks are loading?  That was now added.

Quote from: Badspot
V11 Problem 10:  Certain less sophisticated users abuse other players on the basis of their numerical ID.

V12 Solution:  Since the ID numbers are a necessary part of the game, we can't get rid of them entirely.  In v12, they are hidden by default.  They can be re-enabled in the advanced options menu.  The theory here is that the sort of user who is likely to abuse people based on ID is unlikely to explore the advanced options.

V11 Problem 11:  Certain less sophisticated users repeat themselves in the chat over and over again using the up arrow.

V12 Solution:  The "press up to repeat last chat message" feature is now optional and off by default. Again, the same reasoning as problem 10 applies.  The sort of user who spams the chat annoyingly is unlikely to explore the advanced options.

I love Badspot humor.

Version 13
The row boat and pirate cannon vehicles were added.
New flooded slate maps were added along with the optional rain on the map.

Version 14
You know how with most games you have to forward your ports to host a server on that game?  With Blockland, not anymore!

Version 15
Tons of new bricks were added!

Versions 16 and 17
Just like the old versions 7 and 8, these two updates were just bug fix/patch updates.
Nothing special.

Version 18
The file downloading system when you join a server became what it is now (yes, it was slightly different before - it would load each file individually and tell you its name).
Those key tools were also added.

Version 19
Just another patch update.

Version 20
The launcher was greatly improved so that you no longer had to download every individual update and it would instead do it automatically very quickly.
The new updates were no longer just versions, but instead revsions.

Minor revision additions:
Halloween stuff - Pumpkins, grave stones and the zombie face randomly appears in the sky.
Christmas stuff - The Christmas tree was added.

Version 21
What will probably be the last major update.
The shadows and shaders system was added.
All maps were deleted and a new edited version of "Adjustable Plate" was added.

Minor revisions updates:
Doors were added.
More halloween stuff - Skulls, coffins and two new doors; plain door and jail door.
Sports stuff - Dodgeball, basketball, football, soccer ball and snowball.
SpeedKarts - The SpeedKart game mode was added along with the SpeedKarts vehicles within the game mode file and two builds within the file; Lighthouse and Sand Castle.  This also added new player persistence, camera and blood and gore add-ons.
Bots - Bots were added along with new bot events and a third race track for the SpeedKart game mode; Hydro Plant.

I hope this is a good representation of all you need to know about the Blockland Nostalgia life!

This is not the full change log, just the major features, no minor features or bug fixes are listed.

You have "Blockland Beta" mixed with "v0002"

this
oh and it was v1.03 not v1.031

Sorry.
I bought Blockland during version seven, so I wasn't sure whether or not they were two different versions.

Also sorry about any other things I screwed up in my miniature change log.

oh and it was v1.03 not v1.031
Actually, there was version 1, the update from v0002 (beta) to retail, then there were three bug fix updates, 1.01, 1.02 and 1.03.  Version 1.31 then came out to include Macintosh compatibility.

Uh, in V8 there were no default events, no helicopters, no JVS Doors, not much really. The addon system was sloppy as could be.
Events were a downloadable addon. Also you could'nt name bricks.
Now let me show you why this is bullstuff.

Versions 2 through 6 were skipped and Badspot went straight to 7.

Wrong. v0002 is Version 2, and Retail 1.0 is Version 3.

I played blockland during v1.03 and it updated straight to v7
maybe it only shown it for mac users

in V-0.002
There was no brick menu.
you had to pick some bricks laying around the map.
but it wasn't some very hard easter egg hunt.
there where scattered in one spot.
