Author Topic: State Department freaks and halts Defense Distributed's 3D gun print  (Read 4350 times)

why are they so hard to take down?
US copyright laws don't affect them because they're not hosted in the US.
Something like that.

just go torrent the zip file that is everywhere.
I understand the reasons for wanting it taken down; I just find it funny for this reason.

The Native Americans didn't have guns and they mostly got wiped out. The tribes that had them still live on. In the battle of Big Horn Custar's troops were out gunned with Repeating rifles.

It's a completely paranoid reason, to suggest it's for self-defence.
I completely disagree with this statement. Also for the previous things I will say, The definition of tyrannical government can often be skewed by political views. It may not happen immediately, but when it does, its good to have the people armed.

Also if its completely paranoid then I guess people don't have to carry around guns because there are obviously No people out there who seek to hurt other people.

This is where I find the flaw of your arguments. You are worried about arming criminals who already have ease of access to actual hardware and weapons. This printer wouldn't make a large difference for their world. But with armed citizens who obey the law and have a good moral set won't be open for easy attack. What most criminals have in countries where people are not allowed to be armed have, are lack of consequence if they can easily evade the law. Put the consequences closer to the victims hands and the drive to mug and commit other crimes goes down. It's really that simple. I do understand where you are coming from, but I just don't think it to be the right way.

I say we learn how to make high-tech air rifles that can pierce body armor and make gun powder a thing of the past. Then we can go against Riddler's Cyborg and Elite Power Armored soldiers.

Pageloss:
This isn't the first time he had his 3D gun print taken down. If you saw his video, you'd know he did the same thing on Shapeways and it was removed.

Pageloss:
Shapeways originally supported it heavily but I'm trying to remember the reason why they actually pulled it down.

You know, this guy who envisions a gun that can be used to protect people from a tyrantical government forgot one thing. You need bullets, and if guns are illegal, bullets are too. Better off making tungsten arrows for crossbows that can kill an armored guard and take his weapon.

Hoping DHS hasn't bought it all up...

Guns that are illegal, ammunition that is hard to get. And yet somehow criminals still aquire them. Trust me, its a lot harder to eliminate guns completely from the civilian system. I do like your weapon fantasies. Maybe you should get a 3d printer and make a prototype :p

Or I can draw a design out and make one in a machine shop.

Thanks Obama.
