because he's just so manly.
that's a word for it

So if you had $5.2 million dollars, you would still work?
people seem to think that it's the same situation as winning the lottery. it's not. you win the lottery, you blow everything because you're loving terrible with money, then you are in the same stuffhole or worse as when you started. if you have money, you have it because you've worked and liked what you've done. why would you stop? it's no longer work, but something you like to do.

Bisjac should go to Minecon 2013 with me in Florida.
lolminecon

this.
Getting 5 million dollars doesn't mean you should just quit doing what you love to do.
Yes, I would still work.

Some of you guys are acting like children when it comes to money. "ooh, he has 5 million dollars, he can retire, get a mansion, a yacht, give me a million, pay his bills, and STILL have enough money left over to live the rest of his possibly 50+ years."
Plus, it's obvious, if you had nothing to do because you were without a job, you're saying you would stay at home and save the money you received? No. You would spend it, and in the next 3-4 years, it's likely to all be gone.

Go around the country with huge sacks of 1 dollar bills and throw it out randomly to people.

No, I didn't.
Bisjac thought he was going to die from cancer the second time so he cashed all of his investments in order to party in possibly his last summer, but now that he's okay, why still do it?
Because he's made his money through investments in stocks.

And now that he has sold all his stocks, he can't just buy them back easily.
He'd have to start from scratch again.

Working is difficult and not all people enjoy it.

Bisjac has the financial know-how to successfully invest in stocks to gain himself ~$5m.
I'm pretty sure he has the know-how to live off of that happily without spending the entire lot of it in one go and ending up poor or bankrupt.

He's not an idiot. Just because you might waste everysingle penny of your money, if you had any, I don't know why you just assume that Bisjac would do the exact same.

Perhaps his initial plan might have been to spend a lot, but now that his plans have changed, I'm sure he's going to accomodate for his future too.

So if you had $5.2 million dollars, you would still work?

What's better?

-Spend 5.2 million dollars
or
-Do a job you like and make more money so you can spend even more.

Bisjac, when you come to south florida, let me know so you can give me your autograph.

Bisjac has said before that, if money wasn't an issue, he wouldn't have a job. So...yeah, I don't think there is a job he likes.

If you're not a loving handicap, it's easy to not spend 5.2 million dollars quickly.

Well I must be a handicap because I would buy 10 houses.

why not just buy one big one...with a pool...on every floor.

What.
Why would you even say this. You would assume that the person advising Bisjac to keep up the good work and make more money is stupid and doesn't know how to save/spend money?

He still IS going to spend a lot. You don't think that driving across the country, spending money for women, paying for gas, partying, etc., will cost a lot of money? It doesn't matter how smart he is, he's still going to spend a lot of cash. He's already bought 12 tickets to give out to women; it's not like you don't expect him to buy more. Not to mention he said the trip was the "ultimate spontaneous money wasteful summer."

This is all his decision, but if he liked what he was doing, I would try to get back into it, not just party.

Of course his summer-long party will cost money.
But it's not going to cost him 5 million dollars. (If it did, I'd love to see videos).

He honestly has enough money to live happily from now on.
He can have a great time this summer and barely dent what he has.
Being jumpy here, let's just imagine he spends 1 million dollars this summer. He'd still have 4 million left to live on.
That is very very feasible.

Sure, I'd probably put some money in a Cash ISA or whatnot, where it can earn a bit of interest, but he doesn't need to. He still has his fridges full of Gold and Silver incase money ever becomes an issue again.

He has no need to work.
If he really wanted to, he could do so, I'm sure.
But bear in mind that Bisjac earnt this money from stock-trading. It took him a long time, and he only made so much money because he cashed it all in at once.
He didn't earn it through working a job. He has no need to work at a job any more.

If he wants to reinvest in stocks again, I'm sure he could. But if he reckons he has no need to, which I don't doubt, then there is no reason for him to do so.

Suggesting that he goes back to work, or starts stock-trading again is no better an idea than suggesting he happily retires. It is literally down to whatever Bisjac feels happiest with. And so far, he's suggested that he's happiest in having a fun Summer and then retiring.
