Originally rifles that fired the 20mm round were meant for taking out tanks in the first world war and then by the early part of the second world war the armor of most tanks was too thick to penetrate. So the rifle was used to either disable a tank or attempt to kill the driver by hitting his viewpoint. Anyway large caliber rifles are making a come back as anti-material rifles which are used for taking out light skinned vehicles and electronics.

Not like 20mm is enough to break every bone in your body with the recoil alone or anything.

It is most likely from an airplane in WW2. My great grandfather was a gunner on one of these planes, and that bullet looks like a few that he has.

AT-Rifles didn't use 20mm shells, did they? 20mm was widely used in cannons mounted on aircraft though

20mm was the lowend for at rifles so it didn't see much use in that application, it was used more for antiaircraft and aircraft cannons though

Depends on the rifle. In the first war some used .50 cal and other used the biggest caliber they could come up with. 20mm shells have also been used on aircraft and auto cannons.
