Author Topic: How do I measure the length of a brick in blender?  (Read 3656 times)

I was modeling in blender, but I don't know how long a brick is compared to my model. I was wondering how long a 1x1 cube was.

This would be helpful if someone would answer, please. A lot of us need this.

I know, please don't flame me for non-answer comment.

First of all, what are you modeling? A brick or a static shape. If you are making a static shape, then the dimensions of a 1x1x1 brick are 0.5 0.5 0.6, a 1x1 plate are 0.5 0.5 0.2. If you are to make a brick, then a 1x1x1 brick are 1 1 1.2 blender units and a plate are 1 1 0.4

EDIT: Accidentally put 0.5 for the z value for static shapes. Changed to 0.6

Depends on the converter.
The 1x1x1 brick size is 1.0 1.0 1.2 in Blender units and 1x1f plate is 1.0 1.0 0.4. (With BLBConverter. Or the default cube scaled 0.5 and 1.2 Z for 1x1x1.)
(1x1x1 is 0.5 0.5 0.6 Blender units when using 3dtoblb or obj2blb.)

If you export a brick at a 1-1 scale.
And convert it using Badspot's obj2blb.

A 1x1 brick in blender is 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.6.

A 1x1 cube in blender would be the equivalent of a 2x2 cube in Blockland.

I wouldn't have posted if I wasn't certain. My information was correct. Here is a diagram attached of a 2x2 plate (part of another brick) in Blender, note the dimensions in the "Transform Properties" window:

x: 2.000
y: 2.000
z: 0.400

That's why the 1x1 plate was x:1, y:1, z:0.4

All of these measurements depend on the converter you use as well as the scale setting used when exporting. There's the Destiny's old obj2blb, the newer 3dtoblb, Badspot's BLBConverter, and General's private one.

The ratios of a 1x1x1 brick are 1 unit wide, 1 unit deep, and 1.2 units tall. A 1x1x1 plate would be 1 unit wide, 1 unit deep, and 0.4 units tall.

Sorry, I should've been more specific.  This is what I saw that was wrong.
the dimensions of a 1x1x1 brick are 0.5 0.5 0.5.

The rest of it looks fine. ^.^

Barnabas edited his post to correct the size after you posted this.

With 3dtoblb or obj2blb 1x1x1 is 0.5 0.5 0.6.
