Author Topic: Blockland Forum Keeps Loading Slow  (Read 1779 times)

At periods it seems as if the forum just completely died. The response time is random, it can range from less than a second to high as 20 seconds for a few minutes. Is this happening to anyone else? It's been going on for a while now, and by a while I mean days.

The tracert seems to timeout when it happens.

It's happening to me as well. The browser will actually time out on occasions.

Me too.
I think it is the new server.

Badspot should use Cloudflare as they stopped the biggest DDOS in history.
There are quite some commenters claiming it is fake and just trying to get more customers by scaring them and showing them how big they are when actually they never had such high traffic.
I am not really willing to dive in any deeper, but i don't know who to believe.

It's not fake, there are multiple news articles on the guy that was arrested.

I thought it was my computer, but it's happening now on my phone

It's probably someone DDoSing the new forum server or its the new crappy server.

Badspot should try increasing the connection limit, he did that back in 2009 I believe it was when the forum slowed to a crawl like this.

All the misinformation...
Badspot said that the forum lag is caused by the search button and he hasn't yet found how to fix it.

I also have this problem

Upgrade SMF to latest version maybe?

Which you helped provide. The forums were loading slowly even during the period when the Search button was removed; the actual problem is that some prick with a grudge is doing a distributed denial-of-service attack on the forums.

Although in this case it would only be a degredation-of-service attack because the service in question isn't actually going down completely.
