I don't get the whole "if you play blockland then you can't be neutral" ordeal.
I'm fully capable of enjoying multiple games of the same genre, regardless of what other games I've enjoyed before.
People who play Blockland don't automatically hate ROBLOX. There is no 'biased' opinion about it. The reason for the comparisons is because they are generally the same type of game. If someone isn't liking ROBLOX because of what they like in Blockland doesn't exist there, then it's completely fair to compare that.
That also being said, even without Blockland being in my mind, I still couldn't enjoy ROBLOX much at all. I'm not sure if I was just playing bad games, but the controls seemed awful and the physics even worse. It's like there was no client-sided collision detection. I don't know what it is but people seem to like to say that Building in ROBLOX is easier. I would disagree in an instant. I got fed up with trying to make a simple couch inside the default house. I ended up destroying half of it and gave up on anything creative. I tried playing some games and while the server-sided physics seemed nice, it felt as if the server was just streaming everything that happens. The client didn't seem to detect any sort of collision and really badly wanted the player to fall through everything while the server continued to correct it over and over. The player models were already bad and only got worse. They were WAY too bulky to begin with, and the only thing they changed was smoothing the edges. I like that it uses Lua because I've tried CraftStudio and Lua seems pretty good. But because I can't even run my own server with my own rules, I had no incentive to do any kind of coding. If they would just let people run their own servers, there would be a lot less stress for them and would cut the hosting costs immensely. I also got disappointed by the number of things I couldn't do because I wasn't paying. I don't mind paying for games and all, but monthly is something I can't stand. Especially for a game like that.
