Author Topic: "PewDiePie" - A wall of text about why he is popular.  (Read 5702 times)

I like the videos Pewdiepie makes but the fan base is atrocious.

His fans ruined Happy Wheels with all those sword throws and stuff.

pewdiepie blows lolololololo
He's had his funny moments though.

I can understand the OP. I have no full hatred towards PewDiePie, and I do think he's poor in the sense of comedy. He is only doing this because the people who watch his videos like the style of comedy he does. Just like Spongebob, he goes for the loud and annoying tactic. Children are adopting to this idea from modern TV shows and haven't been well introduced to the other styles like slapstick and jokes/puns. Most people who grew up with slapstick and jokes, like me, want to depreciate the new style of comedy. There is no reason why PewDiePie should be hated for making popular videos of screaming and stuff, because some people out there enjoy a different style of humor. It is their opinion, and I feel entitled to enjoy the style of comedy that I want to.

Now, his fans tend to overuse memes in PewDiePie's videos when they see it in another video. Why, you may ask? Because, like little kids, if they recognize something, they'd be more than willing to point it out, even if it's obvious. For example, if a kid plays Minecraft a lot and he sees or hears something related to diamonds, he might say: "Diamonds? That's just like Minecraft!" It's a memory recital that young people tend to do. You have to admit that you've done it before; it's something that's considered human to do.

If another person puts down PewDiePie as a terrible person, that's their opinion. Still, some fans of his do their best to support them because they want to prove he isn't as bad as people say he is. Again, that's the opinion of the fans. Neither side is "correct", and it is only peer pressure that drives people to say one is right over the other. Both the fans and the haters have no right to say they are.

TL;DR Read it all before replying to me you lazy sloth.

I watched a few of his videos to see what the hype was all about and I didn't enjoy it that much.

But what makes me sad is that I watch a lot of people on YouTube who are really great but don't even have 1/10 the subscribers or views PewDiePie does.

"Wow, this guy is annoying and not funny!"
TBH this was actually my response from watching my first PDP Video.
Definitely not going back

These kids do not have any video quality measurement
You can't quantify things that are qualitative. This sentence makes no sense.

I remember I asked a thread asking for people to stop stuffting over pewdiepie whenever he was mentioned, and it turned into the most ridiculous stuffstorm I have ever started.

I gave up after that, because to be honest nobody here will ever respect each others opinions, I have maybe seen it once or twice at the most.

I am mostly neutral but I definitely appreciate how he genuinely cares about his fans.

I like him but i hate the fan base so annoying and the bro army thing is handicapped too

i dislike him so your argument is invalid
What would be better is, "My hair is a bird, your argument is invalid"

He makes love jokes like a prepubescent kid in his current videos, but back then he was a lot better and didn't make love jokes

He's cool, he makes me chuckle and seems like a nice guy overall.
If you don't like him, I can respect that.

I'm gonna tell you guys a nice little story about me, a common 13 year old used-to-be PewDiePie fanboy.

My story began somewhere in the beginning of 2012. I discovered PewDiePie, because of my cousin, and I thought his happy wheels video's were quite funny. I enjoyed him through the year, but it all changed somewhere in the beginning of 2013. I was exhausted, because my subscribement video box was filled by his videos, and I tend to do this thing to watch everything by everyone, by the means that if I see something incomplete, etc. a video I haven't watched through, I have the passion to watch it to get it out of my way. I was so exhausted of my sub box being filled by his unwatched videos, and I unsubbed because I didn't really laugh at it so much anymore, and it just made me stress a lot. I returned to his channel about few months ago, just to see how he has changed, etc. and I watched this lets play of the crooked man, and it was quite fun. Everything changed today. I was watching one video again, because I ended at his account again, and It was quite interesting, but I possibly couldn't enjoy the watching because he concentrated only on horrible jokes and trying to make fun of character movement, and its really loving awkward.

I came to watch a cool little playthrough with comments by the author on how he reacts at certain points, not some horrible jokes at the middle of something important and other stupid behavior (etc. moving back and forth), but still, I have nothing against PewDiePie fans, I have just... grown off his humor level.

Excuse me for the enormous quite big wall of text.

EDIT: I used to watch his first amnesia lets plays, and I was absolutely pleased by the quietness lasting several minutes, and when it ended he only wanted to say something really sensible, or he had just a good point or a opinion, not to speak trash and such.

{-] Don't post hate comments before reading this, I still respect his fans, but this is just my opinion why I dont watch him anymore[-}
