Author Topic: Why did they remove the maps?  (Read 3785 times)

I miss them. I wanted to play on the slopes...

They removed it due to how buggy and laggy they were and to remove "limitations".
All we got from it so far are shades and shaders and please refrain from posting things like this, they can stir up stuffstorms.

I don't see how it was laggy, because making an entire map out of bricks is ALOT laggier.

They were glitchy as can be and the polygons(?) caused greater lag than bricks.

they removed maps because the shaders wouldnt work right with the maps, so we got a clean slate to work with now.

To be honest it's not about lag. It's about the graphics. Shaders don't work with maps, especially the Bedroom. And to be honest I'm glad they got rid of the dirty and ugly maps which were really unfitting.

it's because they looked like stuff

I thought the maps were great.

yeah now please lock this

everyone seems to get their facts wrong

badspot said explicitly in a post that they removed maps because they were getting hard to work with, since they were messy in code and basically every update they released had to work around maps. they removed it since it was a limitation, and to make up for it released shaders.

if you care to look over the past two years they have released more updates/bugfixes/mods than they have over the previous 4 years.

In addition to Conan:

Maps also got more and more glitchy over time. The slopes wasn't always red you know?

Uh, I'm ninety-nine percent sure that wasn't a glitch.

Glitch/lighting issue.
Something like that, all I really know is it got really red and no fix was done.
