Author Topic: Good way to get rid of rust?  (Read 1979 times)

I just found this razor burried in my swamp. I god all the dirt off and took it apart but it's still really rusty. What's a good way to get rid of the rust?

Picture:

There are chemicals in coca cola that erode rust.

soak it in a container filled with coca cola, this actually does work and will eat away the oxidized metal.

dip aluminum foil in white vinegar and scrub it off

Really?

Really?
Yes, leave it in a bowl or something filled with coke and check it every hour or so to see if it has eroded a good amount of rust

Then you can use it to cut lines of coke.
The circle of life.

Diet Mountain Dew also works nicely, along with vinegar and apple cider.

I prefer coke among all, though.

Gasoline works, after you pour some on it let it sit then just wipe it off. Worked for de-rusting my knife.

Pretty much the same thing with coca cola, just let the knife sit in a container that covers it in cola.

Looks fine as it is. You should cut yourself with it to see if it works.

Not wanting to sound like the nanny pointing out the obvious, but do be careful with it.

Don't go cutting yourself on it while you clean it, especially if it has rust on it.
And I suppose, also especially if you found it in a swamp.

If you are going to do one of these, can you post pictures of your knife after being cleaned?

Cut yourself with it first to see if it's worthy.
