Author Topic: Do you think Badspot would have put in maps if he knew he was going delete them?  (Read 1356 times)

/title

Essentially what I'm asking is that, if Badspot knew how to make shaders before, do you think he wouldn't implement the maps since they were so buggy in the first place?

Here we go again

What?
I'm asking a question about the maps. What's so wrong about that?

because there are countless topics about maps and you can search for the answer.

Raise your hand if you think a new forum rule should be made to ban these loving "map" related discussions!

*raises hand*

The maps were always there since this game came about, but as the game got more and more updates, the interiors and terrains were getting more and more in the way of making updates and possibly adding in new stuff

I think i'm correct, at least

Badspot never put maps in the game. They were a default and basic feature of the Torque Game Engine version he chose to use.

Hmm...

Well considering maps are a core feature in the torque engine (I think) perhaps maps would have already been in blockland from the start.

beat me to it

I don't think anyone's asked this question before. Besides, it's not like he's complaining about maps being gone he's just asking a question.
There's really nothing wrong with that, you guys need to cool your jets a bit.

Anyways, I bet that if he knew what it would cause in the future when he first started developing blockland I doubt that he would have included maps.

So technically, Badspot modified the game engine even more then he did before?

its kind of hard to say that blockland runs off of torque engine, since it's modified to the point where you can almost say blockland is it's own engine

Actually, Blockland's engine and Torque Game Engine are about 95% similar. Really the only changes he has made are adding a datablock type of fxDTSBrick, removing maps, adding shaders, and changing a few things like packet size to allow more bricks in builds. Every other change he made was done in Torque's scripting language and compiled to a DSO. These don't count as changes to TGE because while TGE ships with example files they are not licensed under TGE. If you were to generate a perfect C++ representation of Blockland's binary, most of the defined functions would be exactly the same.

people, badspot will never bring the maps back, so be happy what you still have and move on like the rest of us.

P.S.  Stop putting up topics, complaining about map removal!  it makes you look dumb and you will only get comments about you to shut up about it and lock the topic.  plus administration never listens to you.

Look for 1 sentence in this topic that has anything to do with bringing maps back.
