Author Topic: How do I tell if I have a Realtek Soundcard?  (Read 458 times)

I recently formatted my hard drive and installed windows 7 about a month ago, and I'm not completely sure but I think it had realtek drivers on my windows 8.
I don't know though, how do I tell? All the device manager tells me is I have Microsofts HD audio stuff and nvidia's.

run dxdiag and go to the sound tab

run dxdiag and go to the sound tab
Seems that the provider is microsoft on everything
i dont have speakers, without speakers/headphones plugged in there is no sound, i have to plug a mic and stuff in
i know there was a gui though and had something to do with realtek.

under where it said "Device," what was listed for "Name"?

Not necessarily. It doesn't show up for me.

Shouldn't sound drivers be installed automatically? Why are you asking, are you having any troubles with your drivers? If you know the brand of your motherboard, you can go to the manufacturers website and find out what kind of soundchip you have. You can also download drivers from there.
