Author Topic: offline mode?  (Read 2790 times)

hey, i've been having internet trouble firefox and IE won't work[I have to post on my wii and it's annoying...] Anyway... i wonder what is wrong, I really want to fix it. Blockland is stuck in offline mode and msn works fine so it is not my internet...maybe just the browsers that arn't working?

Reconnect to the internet
If that doesn't work...
Restart computer.
And if that fails...
Reset router.
And if that fails too..
Idk.

I've tried number 1 and 2...i'll try 3 as soon as I can. You mean just hit the reset button on the back?(the one you need to hit with a toothpick?)

Yes, the little tiny button thar.

Just remember that it will kick everyone off the router, and reset all default settings (I.E. your WEP key will get changed back to the default and stuff).
You will have to re-log-on to your router and fix your settings to work right again.
If that doesn't work then your router is probably broken.

And another suggestion: If your router is plugged straight into a wall outlet, get a surge protector for it. Do this especially if you live in a stormy area and stuff. A surge protector can save your router from frying due to power interruptions.

ok, I think I FOUND the problem, thing is I don't know HOW to fix it. I think that blockland is linked to my internet explorer(It isn't working and I uninstalled FireFox so this has to be it) AOL works fine, just not internet explorer...maybe if I knew a way to fix my Internet Explorer it would work.

Anyone have any idea how to fix my internet explorer? Or maybe un install/re install it?

If Blockland won't allow online mode, that must mean Windows thinks you don't have internet.  I believe Blockland queries your operating system to determine internet connection status.

If that isn't the case, the only other thing I can suggest is to change the registry entry that determines your default browser.  Install Firefox and point the registry entry to your Firefox.exe.  I can't remember which entry needs to be changed, but Badspot knows.  Shoot him a PM.

I can't pm badspot because i'm a blockhead :(

How would I go about pointing it to AOL(The only thing that works on my computer right now) I really want Firefox and IE to work but they won't so how would I point it to my AOL or how can I fix my IE or Firefox?

Redgrim...man just go to www.microsoft.com and download the latest IE explorer..that could be the problem but if you have the latest, do it anyway cause someone could of deleted a file..

AOL was never designed for new computers, it facks every thing up. D=

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command

That's the path to the registry entry you need to change to alter which browser Blockland uses.  I don't know whether or not this will affect your problems with offline mode.

Sometimes it can be solved with 3 hours worth of reinstaling windows... which most people dont do lol so i suggest you check your internet cord and plug it in to your pc cuz your Wii has to use the router alot of times...if this doesnt work then your pandaed

I don't have that in my registry.

If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista, you have that value.  I've personally tested both systems.
