Something extremely weird just happened

Well, I was on Darkseed's fortwars, and the server wasn't dedicated, but the host left and the server was still up.
Suddenly, literally NOTHING worked.
Weapons were invisible and didn't do anything, you couldn't drive vehicles, and more.
When we died by suiciding, we spawned outside of our checkpoints inside one of the cubes that surrounded the whole arena.
All of our player nodes were unhidden, and were colored black.
An admin tried to spy me and it said "Client does not have player object"
This didn't just happen to me and we could talk normally.
Then after about 3 minutes the server kicked us out.
What the hell happened?

This has happened to me before, there is a mod where the host can "co-host" someone on the server, and the co-host can kick players by saying /cohostkick (name) or something like that. However, the mod is buggy, and the co-host can even kick the host for some unknown reason. When this happens, all players have all nodes on them and turn black, and everything breaks.

I've seen this problem before on cohosted servers and I have always wondered why it happens. It's also strange how the server might have closed or not.
