Author Topic: Milkshape Broke  (Read 3009 times)

So, I'm not sure what section this goes under but guys, I'm really confused what is going on here, this is a picture of what my Milkshape looks like.

Now, I have tried pretty much every basic thing I could do, try zooming out, uninstalling, restoring my preferences to default, tried fixing the grid, but nothing is working.

Also, if this is in the wrong section, please move it, admins? Thank you c:

It's been like this for months, now, anyway.

You can change your viewing panels by right clicking on them and clicking view? i think that or something similar. To restore the grid, right click on the 3d viewing panel and tick off "show axis" and "show grid". To restore default zoom levels, click on file > new.

I can explain this in a YouTube video if you want
I'll upload it later.

Tried everything you just said, none of it seemed to work.

At the top left, is located the File, Edit, Vertex, Face, Animate, Tools, Window and Help tabs.

Hover over the window tab and turn Show Viewport Caption on.

This gives you the ability to reset the viewports so that you don't have two that are the 3D view. Just select the one you want from the dropdown menu for each viewport.

You can set them all to default view by changing the values of the 3 boxes next to the dropdown menu.

If you change them to 0 -1024 and 1024 respectively, it should be zoomed out all the way and it will be centered on the axis.

...

You fixed it...

I thought I would never be able to use it again, I've had it like that for four months...

How do I make this my new default?

And before you do that how do you stop the clipping of the bottom-right quadrant?

Go to File > Preferences

And check the one labeled "Save Viewport Config"

As for the clipping of the Bottom-Right Quadrant, I don't see what you are referring to. Could I see the 3D viewport without the grid or the axis?

Yes, sir, see how it's clipping now? You can see through the model.

Also, the save viewport config doesn't apply my configurations when I reopen Milkshape, suggestions?

The thing with 0 -1024 and 1024 was for the other flat viewports.

The 3D viewport should be 65 0.1 and 4096.

Yay, that fixed it, what should the other quadrants be?

Also, I cannot see that box that goes around the thing you select when I go to select a vertex.

You know, the thing you have to hold and it gets larger dependent where you go with it?

Secondly, it still doesn't save my preferences for the FOV, near, and far settings.

The other 3 quadrants should be 0 -1024 and 1024 and the 3D one should be 65 0.1 and 4096.

For future reference, that white selection box-thing is called the marquee. You should be able to see it, I don't know why you wouldn't. You should not be able to see it on the 3D viewport, however you can hold alt and drag in the 3D viewport to select something.

As for your preferences, all I can say is that you should make sure that it's checked. You might also want to run Milkshape as Administrator.

I'm going to double post, because I don't want the edit thing at the bottom of my previous post, so you can be sure that I didn't change the information after you saw it.

So, the alt-drag select method in the 3D viewport will not work when you are in face select mode, for some reason.

The "Save Viewport Config" does not appear to effect the FOV, Near and Far settings at all. However, for me they just stay how I left them when I close Milkshape, which may be a result of me running as Admin.

I runned it as administrator, it didn't do anything, any other ideas for it to be saved?

Well, what settings does it resort to when you close it then open it again? That is, what numbers are the FOV, Near and Far?

Not sure of the numbers but it looks like this when I re-open it.
