Author Topic: Anyone know what's the huge deal with Avro Arrow?  (Read 1105 times)

Canada's first supersonic jet that was scrapped and basically removed off the face of this planet for whatever reason. It could reach Mach 3 (Big whoop).

I mean what's the big deal with it? We have planes that can almost reach Mach 10. Is Canada so proud of this stupid jet that they must enforce us to learn about it in history class?

because canada is not known for accomplishing things

dont be such a friend, if it was their first supersonic jet then it probably WOULD only reach Mach 3

you kids today with your mach 3 and your iPoodles

when i was your age we went the eye blistering speed of 2000fps and we liked it

Wtf why is OP being such a richardhead

Do you have any idea how stupid this sounds? They are trying to make a program to bring it back. May I ask why? Why not spend this precious time to loving advance our aerodynamic technology and make something better? This is annoying me quiet a lot, it's the year 2013, not 1900's. We have come so long just for people to get stuck in the past and simply refuse to look into the future. Sure at the time the Avro Arrow would've been cool, but why bring it back into production again? It boggles my mind for people to even have thoughts about doing such a thing.

*sigh*

The F-15 was introduced in the mid 70s and can reach Mach 2.5.

and it was canada

we didnt help them

Actually the Avro Arrow was supposed to be capable of Mach 3.0 but it's max recorded speed was around Mach 2.3.

Your point?

The power required to double something's velocity is a cube

They are incredibly not cost effective and I don't see them coming back any time soon.

You were trying to make fun of the F-15 because it was introduced like 20 years later and only capable of Mach 2.5. The Avro Arrow didn't achieve anything that people are claiming it did. It's just a normal jet, it would've been outdated soon enough.

Coolest man on Earth

I was not in any way making fun of the F-15.....
