Author Topic: I think I have erythema nodosum  (Read 1737 times)

While waiting for the bus a few days ago I noticed a small bump that was itchy on my ankle. I thinks it's a bug bite and I ignore it

Last night in the shower I found another lump on my shin, I think it's another bug bite

This morning I have another lump on the other leg and the previously two, thought bug bites, are still there

Now they're red, hard, painful and itchy. I googled it and it looks like a cause of erythema nodosum
I'm going to the doctors to see what caused this

Says it will go away in about 3-6 weeks

I'd go to the doctor before diagnosing it. It could be an allergic reaction to something and itching it making it worse.

Going to make an appointment in a day or two if it gets worse

"EN is frequently associated with fever, malaise, and joint pain..."
You didn't mention those in OP, so I doubt it's this. Never use the internet to diagnose yourself.

I think you have a bad case of the web md

"The skin on the shins is most commonly affected.
Other areas that may be affected include the ankles, calves, thighs, buttocks and arms.
Raised, red, hard, hot and painful lumps appear on the skin.
The lumps can be from 1 cm to 20 cm wide.
Up to 50 lumps may develop in the affected area.
Legs may swell.
Fever and general malaise may occur.
Around half of all cases are associated with joint pains, particularly the knees.
Conjunctivitis sometimes develops.
The lumps turn from bright cherry red to purple over a few days.
The purple lumps become brownish-yellow and flat over a few weeks.
The lumps tend to recur if the person doesn't have sufficient rest."

Well I have these bumps on my shins and ankle. They are "raised, red, hard, and hot painful lumps appear on the skin"
They are about 1 to 2 cm wide.
And they're bright red right now

Looks like that

Don't Self Diagnose. See a Doctor.

So you're going to wait for it to get worse so you can see a doctor? That doesn't make sense.

It's not life threatening or really harming in any way if it is EN
