it's better to tell someone how it is then sugarcoat it esp. when it comes to art because otherwise they'll either think you're wrong or disregard you entirely

No, what he did was be a straight up richard about it. Its one thing to say "Your arts bad" but when you have to go as far as to say "It's complete stuff. The proportions are forgeted and the art is lazy"  than its too much.

Blouk, you have to learn to take criticism seriously. If what they're saying is true and it's emotionally affecting you so badly that you wanna quit, put that emotion into actually practicing. Appease your criticizers.

Stop doing art trades and quick sketches that mean nothing and actually improve on your skills so you can get better. If you aren't willing to put hours on end into a piece of art then you shouldn't be doing it in the first place.

no. you will regret not doing art any more. it will be one of those thing that you started and never finished. i have tried to learn japanese, italian, german, spanish, and i never finished any of then. but i wish i had finished learning atleast one of them
