Furries are like all the other fandoms out there like those star trek and star wars fandom.Star trek, star wars, furries and all the other fandoms out there have the same catagory of people too, those who take the fandom too far, those who just like the fandom, and those who get perverted over the fandom.
no stuff
But with that said the rest of your argument kind of falls apart. We're the most obnoxious fandom? Really?
You know that like you just said we're just another fandom, and with ANY fandom there's always gonna be the really vocal, annoying bit. There's one for the Star Trek fandom, Star Wars fandom, Sherlock fandom, Dr. Who fandom, Homestuck fandom, MLP fandom, you name it. It's just that this fandom - the fur fandom - is ungodly large, and when a group of people who share the same interests or beliefs starts to grow large, the number of annoying and obnoxious people also increase.
But with
that said, I will tell you in the same breath that this fandom's a bit more unique. In what way? Well, think about it: There's not a lot of other fandoms that aren't based around some sort of copyrighted material, published material or story/plot/movie/TV show/etc. This fandom is really tapping into a human trait of anthropomorphize, you can see this whole anthro thing in artwork from feudal Japan and middle-ages Europe, and this is just our modern take of it. There's no canonical or non-canonical elements of it, no shipping wars, no debate on which actor portrayed this character better or if the BBC drama really sucks. Fanart is almost always directed at someone else in the fandom and if there's a character who we have a love for, chances are it's always someone else's in the fandom. We're like fans of each other, really.
Oh well, we're still a fandom though, so bypass the idiots and move on.
