Because it's not fun to wake up with a snake on your doorstep or even inside of the house. I usually capture and release unless its got poisonous characteristics (such as a triangle head, for example).

We always get diamond backs hiding around our porch for some reason. It really sucks cause you gotta kill em or they keep coming back
