Author Topic: GMod not detecting Half Life 2 game models/maps etc  (Read 19269 times)

Hmm, nvm, said something stupid.

It said 2 files failed and its reacquiring them or something like that, for half life 2.

Maybe some files were missing, try Garry's Mod again and if nothing's changed, maybe you need to redo the process, like, maybe the fact that some files were missing stopped the Steampipe conversion from happening so it could download them missing files

2 Files failed to validate on half life 2 episode 1.

Its still not going through, its saying 3 files failed to validate now.

Right click a Source Engine game in your library, click Properties, click the Betas tab, click the drop-down menu and choose Steampipe beta (prerelease for CS:S), and once it says you've opted in, don't close the window down or Steam might forget your decision, while the properties window is still open, go to the Local Files tab and click 'Verify integrity of game cache...', you'll then be prompted with a message asking if you want to convert the game, choose yes (or OK or whatever the button is)

You must do this for each Source Engine game, one at a time, to ensure the game's contents will show up in Garry's Mod, these games you need to convert are Counter Strike: Source, Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode One, Half Life 2 Episode Two, and Portal

Team Fortress 2 is already on Steampipe (in non-beta form), so it does not require this action, and the contents of this game already work in Garry's Mod
It also doesn't prompt me with a message asking to convert.

Dammit
HL2 EP1 still showing this up:
2 Files failed to validate on half life 2 episode 1.

Maybe if you reinstall the games you're having the missing files problem with and then try converting them?

Do I play the games first then convert them?

I noticed that Steam had been acting weird after the update

It though several of my games were uninstalled and GMod has to redownload all of my add-ons (247)

Do I play the games first then convert them?
It shouldn't be required to do so

It shouldn't be required to do so
How would I do this correctly?
What I do:
Go to the games properties, select steampipe beta, go to local files, and verify game cache files
am i doing it correctly?

You're doing it correctly, i don't understand why you keep getting a message about files missing instead of the message that asks if you want to convert the game to Steampipe

Hangon, I'm getting the message to convert it, I reinstalled steam and the games.

Bump, I seemed to have converted them correctly, except their folders are still in the steamapps\username, but there is no files in the folders, i can still run the games normally, their folders aren't in common but still in the steamapps\username.
Why is it not showing folders in the common?
Did the content merge with Half Life 2?
