irony
Not irony. There are 3 types of irony: situational irony, verbal irony, and dramatic irony.
Situational irony is when what you expect to happen does not happen, but the opposite of that happens. (i.e. A small cat chasing a big dog around) You would think Frequency's avatar and his comment would fall under situational irony, but no. It's just a coincidence that what he was saying contradicted his cringe-worthy avatar.
Verbal irony is when you say the opposite of what you mean. (i.e. saying "What wonderful weather!" when it's hailing) Sarcasm is similar but has more attitude to it.
Dramatic irony is when the reader/watcher of something knows something that the character's don't. (i.e. We know the ship is going to sink in Titanic but Rose and Jack don't.)
See? Now you know. Now please don't call things irony when they're not ever again.
