Extremely glad that gameplay is said (and proven to, look at the gameplay footage in the direct, looks way better than brawl) to be closer to melee this time as appossed to being floaty and slow like brawl. In brawl they basically removed the ability to perform combos to make it easier for casual players to get used to the game because of the console it was on.

Also for glory mode isn't on stock and is on a timer, wtf?

Samurai Gordo (or whatever his name is, the samurai dude from f zero) is shown as an assist trophy during the direct. Most assist trophies from series's that do not have character representation are of the main characters or those most memorable. Using this logic we can determine that falcon is in.

They haven't shown a lot of returning veterans yet, you guys. I know they showed off ALL the unlock able characters on the dojo for brawl but they clearly are not doing that yet. So just chill before you start believing evil ol sakurai is removing your favorite characters just because they are hidden in game, and showing them would be spoiling the surprise of unlocking them yourself.

I believe the only character shown so far who was previously an unlock is luigi, but I think he will probably be moved to be one of the non unlocks.

Probably because making one character look wildly different in terms of shading styles doesn't mesh well with the new bright vibrant colorscheme they've got going on to try to get away from the muddy realistic textures Brawl (and melee, actually) had.
