They stated if they were going to cover every character in their game, they would need at least a month to do so.
I'm not sure if that's "Playable" characters or not, but it sounds pretty huge to me.

I don't think they will be confirming many characters at E3. They need to keep some a surprise. Also, I've notice a patern Nintnedo is doing with their games. They will talk about a lot of things in it, but those will be the only things in the game ( X and. Y as an example)
