Author Topic: I shut down my schools internet.  (Read 6237 times)

I loving hate when kids loop switches at the schools I work in. Little starfishs.

My old school almost always had a backup plan for when the net decided to go down on us. Unless the assignment relied solely on the internet we had to do something. And if it was a article to read they typically find a way to print out the article. Sometimes they pre-print them out just in case.

I'm surprised I never mentioned it, but is it that common for schools to pretty much 100% rely on computers for teaching?

What happened to hand-outs, workbooks and white-boards?

These almost always seemed to take precedence over teachers teaching from the computers/smartboards/projectors.

I remember when my teachers all had chalk boards.
Some teachers here still use white boards, I even see a occasional chalkboard.

It was a computer class. You don't use handouts and workbooks and white-boards in a computer class.

Yeah, but he says he took the entire school system down and they couldn't teach in any other classes.

Computer class is fair enough, but other lessons should still be able to operate.
