Author Topic: Really annoying virus (MySearchDial)  (Read 8534 times)

Never going to download anything from cnet again.

so a while ago i downloaded a program from cnet and of course it gives me a bunch of other programs it wants me to install.
i check off all i can find but this one "MySearchDial" there was no deny button, little did i know i had to check advanced and tick off all the boxes.
so the bullstuff happens, i get this crap program that changes my search engine and start page to mysearchdial.com
i've googled on it and it's a browser hjacker, so why did cnet just give me a VIRUS? i am not sure if it is one but it has left crap in the registery and on my browser AFTER the unistall.

so i don't know if its still on my computer as a hidden process spying or stuff but its REALLY annoying me, i had to restore my computer to an earlier point.

How do i make sure i've gotten rid of it?

This is why you don't download stuff from cnet. Its not really trustworthy.

this is exactly why you read everything thoroughly before you click accept

i do that on all the installation programs but seriusly, there was no decline button and they had to make you click advanced and uncheck it all.
they make denying the install as hard as possible just so they can get there monies.

Cnet is a bitch, I downloaded modloader for Minecraft 1.5 and I missed one ad. I got a browser hijacker that keeps installing this stuffty B1 search engine.

so why did cnet just give me a VIRUS?
cnet get paided to put advertisements on their downloads, they don't give a stuff if its a virus.

Search all of your folders for anything related to it.
Search the registry for anything related to it.
Search your browser settings for anything related to it.
Delete them all.

I downloaded that, just uninstall your browser and reinstall it...

AdwCleaner is a reliable removal tool for Adware, Foistware, toolbars and potentially unwanted programs.

AdwCleaner is a tool that deletes :
· Adwares (software ads)
· PUP/LPI (Potentially Undesirable Program)
· Toolbars
· Hijacker (Hijack of the browser's homepage)

It works with a Search and Deletion methode. It can be easily uninstalled using the "Uninstall" mode.

sounds like something you need mate

Does it even search properly?
