Author Topic: Who wants to enforce rules on homophobic bullying?  (Read 14512 times)

No laws should be specifically about bullying.  The physical things are already illegal and the verbal things should never be made illegal unless it's flat out harassment.  I should not have to do 10 years in jail because I called some mentally unstable person a friend over the internet.

this

I've been verbally abused countless of times and it's never cut deep, even though I felt somewhat bad, never cut that deep lol. I can never see how people can kill themselves over verbal harassment.

They want to be the next Amanda Todd, and have millions of teens rally under their name.

being biloveual is great
i can be some hot girl's gay friend in highschool
then forget them later

I wonder how many people would assault a clorox commercial starring Amanda Todd's picture.

I want to kill every family man. (and furphobes. and anti-bronies)
you're just as bad for saying that.

One would think that I'd kill myself if I were actually offended by a post like yours. Perhaps I'm offended by how nonsensical it was.

Also, gonna quote this again since it seems as though people missed it:
And reiterate on it: if you see someone being a richard, you're kind of a bigger richard by just saying "hey well sucks for them it happens to everybody-" No. By making that statement, you assume that it has to happen to everybody and that you are powerless against it. Unless half of the school is part of some super massive "bully clan", (or you live in someplace south where people against anyone who isn't a straight white male (in that case I suggest moving if the situation is that bad and if you're able)) I'm 95% sure there's something you, a small group of kids, or a teacher can do about it.

I've been bullied a couple times in middle school, whether it be racism or destruction of property, and either I said something about it or my friends have, and the problem stopped the next day.
This so much.

Yet this is a part of "fitting in." Being homoloveual is a really hard hardship for these children. I'm talking about this specific type of bullying. Being homophobic doesn't always mean "bullying" but yet if someone is homophobic, they are going to try to run away from you and make you feel left out. I am bi-curious apparently and I just want to run if any "homophobic" phrase is directed at me. I am not demanding that this is not a special case of bullying, but homoloveual youth usually have it harder because "that's gay" and "friend" is so integrated into middle school society it is heard almost 3 times every school day, and yet it isn't stopped. It affects those who are closeted. If you are closeted, you have to suck it up because usually is you go ahead and tell a teacher, the student who attacked you verbally would know that you are gay and actually out you. This boy was in Tennessee, too. I'm not specifically saying that the boy is the only case, and that since he was already openly gay it was his up bringing. Many cases are different and "unique." Bullying is a bad thing in general but I am directing the case on gay bashing.

What king said. Gay bashing can be spread very rapidly and many people actually join in and call you a cigarette every time. Normal bullying can be handled faster, but usually this type is just.. special because of this society.

be one of those self loving jacked cool gay dudes, slap little pansy boys butts as you strut through the locker room with your 10 incher swinging about

problem solved

Making a special punishment/provision for gay bullying will just encourage some kids to be even more aggressive towards supposedly gay kids. They wouldn't follow regular bullying rules, and probably take enjoyment from disobeying the rules, so they must get a huge powertrip by being the badass that establishes dominance over the feminine male homoloveuals. People need to stop being reactionaries and think before putting policies into place.

how do you know my school so well

but lots of killings in highschools are caused by distressed teens...?

most of those distressed teens grow up with a loving family and mommy and daddy buy them everything.

Actually, I should mention that there are some circumstances in which adults act as immature as toddlers and join the harassment, or at least pretend it's not happening.

The problem, Dodger, is that the standard policies are ineffective here. More serious action needs to be taken when the standard fails. This doesn't just go for homophobic bullying, but it's more obvious there. If there is ever a single case where the standard policies fail to put a stop to it, then obviously a more severe action needs to be taken to deal with that individual. You don't just give up because they keep going. That's just stupid.

Wow. Just... wow. That's all I can say. This is so fundamentally wrong.
