Author Topic: I've got my oral(speaking) German assessment tomorrow, what should I do?! (Read 1830 times)

Basically, I've got an oral speaking assessment for German tomorrow, and I have only learnt around 3 paragraphs in my total of 6. I have recorded myself speaking out all of the paragraphs but the last three, I cannot remember because I have had loads of things to do over the last two weeks, therefore I was unable to revise for my German.

I've got it in 23 hours, and I've got 6 hours tomorrow doing nothing apart from watching my school production that I am in. I've got the assessment after school, so I've got 6 hours tomorrow to revise 6 paragraphs and know them completely. I'm stuck here. I could do with some advise, because I'm stuffting myself so much right now, because my teacher gave me extra time in the first place so I could revise it. I didn't have the time in that 'extra time'.

I'm either forgeted, unless somebody helps me? Anyone?

Assuming this is anything like the French Orals I took, and the German ones my brother did, have you learnt enough to answer some questions?

They should ask you questions in German at the end of your speech, mostly based off of your speech, which you're supposed to try and answer.

Otherwise you're just learning lines, which most anyone could do.

You've got nothing else to do than to just learn them.
If it's all correct, then it really is just learning lines.

Repeat, repeat repeat.

Don't waste time on these forums.

And also make sure you get a good nights sleep, and eat breakfast in the morning.
You're no good to yourself if you're tired and hungry while doing it.

I have a 40 words sheet where I can write a list of 40 words which I may need. But I am stuck for choice as I have over 500+ words and atleast 100 words are phrases that I don't understand. The oral has to be between 4 and 6 minutes and if I cut it anymore I might go below that time.

I have minimal motivation to remember it though, it's not that I don't have the motivation, it's just that I don't remember it after repeating after hundreds of times. It's a difficulty, I cannot remember word by word but I can put the text into a similar phrase.

I'll have to figure out what I can do to sort myself out for tomorrow.

I took four years of German myself and I forgot most of the volcabulary in the 13 years I haven't spoken it. However, I was playing Star Trek Online earlier and teamed up with a German person and didn't do too terrible understanding him/her. Needed Google translate once or twice to help with some words, but overall good.

I suggest that even with the lack of time that you have, take breaks often. You will only stress yourself to a mental amnesia for your oral report. Just relax and it will be a lot easier for you.

I have been on the internet for nearly my entire life, don't act like you know anything I don't.

I just call out unfunny jokes when I see them. The joke wasn't clever, it was just forced.
